The ordinance of the Lord’s Supper, as taught in 1 Corinthians 11:26, is one of the most important sacraments of the Christian faith. It serves as a commemoration of Christ’s sacrifice for humanity—His body broken and His blood poured out for the redemption of sins. In this ordinance, believers participate in the bread and wine, symbols of Christ’s body and blood, which unite them with Christ and each other. Paul reminds the church that every time they partake of the Lord’s Supper, they are publicly proclaiming the gospel of Christ’s death, resurrection, and eventual return. The act of communion calls believers to remember the deep significance of Christ’s sacrifice and reflect on their personal relationship with Him. It also encourages self-examination, repentance, and reconciliation, ensuring that the heart and mind are right before partaking of such a sacred meal. Moreover, the Lord’s Supper brings the church together in unity, reinforcing the bond of fellowship within the body of believers as they collectively wait for Christ’s return. This ordinance not only honors Jesus’ death but also anticipates the future feast in the Kingdom of God, where believers will be fully united with Him. SHALOM!!!
